Lotte Kopecky had troubled times with her personal life, her brother died last Saturday and Team SD Worx asked for fans to give her privacy at Nokere Koerse. Still, the Belgian rider did a fantastic performance in the race, very offensive, and she managed to achieve another solo victory ahead of the peloton commanded by Lorena Wiebes.
"The decision to ride here was already made last week. I wanted to start today anyway. These were not easy days, but there is no point in letting my head hang down and sitting in the seat. I wanted to make the most of it, and it worked out quite well. I wanted to make the most of it, which worked out pretty well. And with the legs I had, I think we did ride two", Kopecky shated in the post-race interview.
Her teammate Lorena Wiebes won the sprint in the peloton and finished 2nd behind Kopecky. Wiebes was the favourite at the start of the race, but the team tactics favored Kopecky and Wiebes was happy with her teammate's victory.
"Beforehand, we had agreed to ride attacking. That was fun to do, Lotte was still riding in front, so I started my sprint early. That was possible, I knew from last year. It's nice to get first and second like that," the Dutch sprinter commented on what was a successful day for the team.
