"I think I can have more freedom at Tudor and convert my good data into results" - Matteo Trentin aims to find his winning form in Tudor again

Matteo Trentin will play a role as a mentor at the ambitious Tudor Pro Cycling in 2024, but the experienced Italian, who has won three Tour de France stages and became European Champion in 2018, also wants to show that he still knows the winning ways after years of often working for his teammates at UAE Team Emirates.

"Tudor is a young team that wants to grow. They want to do that quickly, but above all in a good way," Trentin tells WielerFlits. "The fact that I can be part of a team with that ambition feels very good and beautiful. I think I can have more freedom at Tudor and convert my good data into results."

In 2023, for the first time since 2020, Trentin didn't score a single victory in a season, this naturally doesn't make him very happy. "Last year was very bad for me, looking at my results. Even though my preparation was good, and I think I may have had my best year in terms of data, those numbers still mean nothing if you don't get good results."

"From what I have seen and experienced so far, Matteo is still a cyclist with excellent performance and vast experience. Matteo came to us as a leader, the team relies on him a lot and I think he has the level and motivation to be able to fulfill these ideas. After all, they didn't sign him for three years just for nothing," Trentin's new teammate Petr Kelemen confirms to RoadCycling.cz the high hopes his team has for the Italian.
