The second stage of the Tour of Britain concluded with a dramatic sprint between Jake Stewart and Cees Bol. Corbin Strong of Israel - Premier Tech seized the third position to expand his lead in the general classification.
In one of his first remarks, Strongs praised his team for their efforts, especially in managing the breakaway in the final kilometers. “Reto is crucial, I am privileged to have the support of riders like him. To receive support from such big riders is a humbling experience for me. It is fantastic that I can rely on their help,” said Strong.
He continues, “If I would not have won yesterday, I think I would have been gutted today." Strong was leading the peloton in the final kilometer, but Cees Bol and Jake Stewart had other plans for him. He is not particularly thrilled with the result, but he is not disappointed either.
“I was not perfectly positioned, and I did feel like I had more left in the legs. I see this third place as a motivation for the stages that are yet to come," said Strong.
While Strong has been able to hold on to the leader's jersey, for now, it will become increasingly difficult in the future stages. “This race is going to be more and more interesting every day, We will have to keep racing it from the front. Luckily, we have the team here to do so,” Strong concluded.
