The high mountains of Andalucia were on display today at the Vuelta a Espana, as Thymen Arensman soared to the win, and once again Remco Evenepoel shed time on Enric Mas and Primoz Roglic in the fight for the red jersey on the high-altitude Sierra Nevada.
The medical report on the day included two riders who went down heavily early on in the day:
45 - Wilco Kelderman (BORA - hansgrohe. Polycontusions and superficial wounds.
127 - José Joaquín Rojas (Movistar Team). Road rash on left leg and right buttock.
As for fines, the following were given:
26 - Vincenzo Nibali (Astana Qazaqstan Team): Getting rid of bidon without precaution. 500CHF fine and 25 UCI points.
1 - Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma): Getting rid of a bidon outside waste area. 500CHF fine and 25 UCI points.
Jumbo-Visma DS Grischa Niermann: Getting rid of a bidon outside waste area. 500CHF fine.
Alpecin-Deceuninck DS Frederik Willems: Failure to comply with the instructions of the organizer. 500CHF fine.
