The second stage of the
Tour of Britain was won by
Team DSM rider
Cees Bol. A photo finish was used to determine the winner between Bol and
Jake Stewart.
“The team did a super good job to bring me over the hills and get me into a good position for the sprint after bringing the attackers back,” said Bol. It was one of the most dramatic finishes of his career. After the breakaway was caught, Bol and others were gearing up to sprint, in which Bol narrowly secured the victory.
The rider describes the event with utmost excitement. “Then in the last 300 meters, I was fighting for a good wheel and then just want all out to the line, throwing the bike. It’s great to take the win. I had to fight really hard for it on the tailwind section; I was really on the limit there,” concluded Bol. He currently holds 63rd position in GC, just 3 minutes and 38 seconds behind overall leader Corbin Strong.
