One of the biggest names in women's cycling, Annemiek Van Vleuten has done almost all their is to do in the sport. In the fourth season of the Movistar Team documentary, El Día Menos Pensado however, drama strikes when nature calls.
In the 2022 Tour de France Femmes, Van Vleuten is in and amongst the peloton when a desperate call comes through the car radio. “I need to sh*t!" The bewildered Movistar staff members in the car don't seem to initially treat this an urgent situation but as Van Vleuten's desperation grows she repeats her message and this time the urgency in her voice comes through.
Whilst for many a moment such as this being broadcast to millions across the world could be seen as a rather embarrassing moment, the 40-year-old cycling legend saw the funny side.
Taking to Twitter the current women's road race world champion joked, "Love it that this part made it also into the El Dia Menos Pensado season 4. Pit stop at the champagne fields in stage 3, only 30km from the finish."
