"I identify with Wout van Aert" - António Morgado his no ambition as he evolves into classics rider

We already know that António Morgado is a distinguished cyclist. The Portguese rider is in the process of discovering what type of cyclist he could become in the future and what his evolution process is, is something that we will have to follow in the coming years.

The 20-year old is currently a rider who stands out in the World Tour peloton and is starting to have the respect of his opponents, no one doubts that anymore. 5th place in the Tour of Flanders, 2nd place in Le Samyn had already left excellent references, but the icing on the cake this Sunday, with victory in the Italian Giro della Romana.

After his first victory as a professional in the World Tour peloton, Morgado told Record "I didn't feel good in the early part of the race", but with the work that his team, UAE Team Emirates, was doing to nullify the escape before upon entering the final circuit, he felt inspired to do something that would reward their work "After that enormous work by the team, I felt I had to do something big", justifying "that's why in the final part I attacked and joined the group in front and everything ended in the best way. I'm very happy with my first victory as a professional."

Morgado couldn't hide his happiness "I worked hard to achieve it. The first victory is already here, here's to many more to come". Asked if there would be a race where he would like to leave his name marked, he says that "There are several, but my objective is to always be constant in every race and evolve".

Given the good results he is having at the beginning of the year, he says that "Symbolically, I would say victory, but in terms of results, without a doubt, 5th place in the Tour of Flanders is very important". Morgado presents an irreverent style of running, being a cyclist with his own style of racing and he reflects on this: "I identify with Wout van Aert, I like the way he races, he is the cyclist I like the most," he reveals.

Morgado is now going to the Vuelta a Asturias which starts on the 26th of this month, "afterwards I will take a break," he reveals. In the year of the Olympic Games, it is mandatory to ask if you dream of being present in Paris: "If I am called up, I will gladly and with great pride to represent Portugal. But I will respect all decisions," he concludes.
