"My legs hurt more during the warm-up than during the race itself" - Stefan Küng hoping Swiss mixed relay win can inspire ITT success

Switzerland have successfully defended their mixed relay team time-trial title in Glasgow. Stefan Küng, Stefan Bissegger, Mauro Schmid, Marlen Reusser, Elise Chabbey and Nicole Koller proved to be the best against the clock.

“Today we really wanted to win and defend our title,” said Küng in his post-race interview. “Schmid, Bissegger and I knew the course well from the road race. It is of course different on the time trial bike, but the three of us also feel good about each other. We trust each other. We especially wanted to ensure that the women could start with a head start and thus had less stress.”

After finishing 5th in the men's elite road race just the other day and now taking the win in the mixed relay team time-trial, Kung is understandably heading into the individual time-trial full of confidence.

“Monday was all about recovery for me. Today I also didn't want to put too much pressure on myself, because Friday is an important day for me," he explains. "How did I feel today? My legs hurt more during the warm-up than during the race itself.”
