Damiano Caruso rode to second place at the 2021
Giro d'Italia. Achieving the same this May would be a difficult task, however the rise of form the veteran is showing puts him within contention for a spot in the fight for the podium in Italy.
“It was a good week for the team and especially for me. My goal was to find my good legs and I succeeded. Moreover, I take home a good result. A third place in
Tour de Romandie means a lot," Caruso said after sealing his podium in Switzerland. He rode a consistent race where he put on a strong performance in the hilly time-trial, and then rode to third on the queen stage. In the rough weather and altitude, where he typically performs well, he found the right conditions to send out a signal that he is ready for the Giro.
