"I can count myself lucky" - Janse van Rensburg calls time on World Tour career

Reinardt Janse van Rensburg has announced his time riding at World Tour level has come to an end. The 33-year-old took to social media to say "I am putting an end to my time as a WorldTour rider. I can count myself lucky that I have been able to race as a professional at the highest level for the past ten years."

The South African doesn't plan on retiring fully just yet, but his time riding in Europe is finished. Where or who he will be riding for is not yet clear, "I will continue cycling in 2023" the 2016 Tour de Langkawi winner says. "I can't wait to announce what my future will be!”

Turing professional back in 2013 with Team Argos-Shimano, Janse van Rensburg can boast 10 career victories including the aforementioned Tour de Langkawi, 2 South African national championships and Binche - Chimay - Binche.

Looking back on his near decade-long career in the World Tour peloton he had this to say, "I met a lot of beautiful people, got to know different cultures and this way I was able to broaden my horizon - I will cherish the memories of my career forever."
