Heat stroke ends Antonio Tiberi's Vuelta a Espana on brutal mountain day

The crazy heat has affected several riders at the Vuelta a España and today it may have caused it's greatest victim. Antonio Tiberi was at the door of the podium and leading the youth classification, but has suffered from heat stroke today and was forced to abandon the race.
"Antonio Tiberi felt unwell during stage 9 suffering from heat stroke, becoming lightheaded with a high body temperature," the team shared in a social media message. "Cooling methods helped stabilize him, and he is now in good condition, but sadly, he had to abandon La Vuelta. Get well soon Antonio ".

With the effects of global warming organising this race in August is becoming more and more irresponsible. They should really start considering rescheduling it to early September or swapping spots with the Giro, one day a rider is going to get permanent brain damage from one of these strokes.
Yeah, and you know what also would be nice? Electric vehicles: cars, motorcycles, everything.

- People were saying stuff like that years ago but in the meantime he’s proved himself often enough. Do you reallythink he’s going to stop working and improving until he can match the best? It’s just a matter of time. Once he notices the mountains are costing him the title, he’ll start making plans how to overcome that, for now he is still too cocky to understand you improve most by accepting you have a weakness and that’s what you should work on most.Mistermaumau21-04-2025

- Also, it seems fans and he have narrowed down strategies for winning to one, doing long-range solos. - I don’t think he is very well advised in-house, whether that is because they’re happy for him to do things this way or whether he just isn’t good at taking advice, I don’t know and it probably doesn’t matter, not until he will reach a “bad” patch because as many before him discovered, it can be very long to climb out a bad patch if you don’t know or accept what will help you get through it.Mistermaumau21-04-2025

As to putting Remco at Pogs level at grand tours he is no where near in the high mountains. He won the Vuelta yes good result but there was no big hitters there . Needs to mature up quite a bit and classics are no where same as grand tours.paultryan200221-04-2025
