Colombian cyclist
Harold Tejada has achieved an impressive victory for the
Astana Qazaqstan Team in the second stage of the
Tour Colombia 2024, getting his first win as a professional.
The stage began with a breakaway formed by six brave riders who sought to confront the main peloton. These riders were Javier Jamaica of Team Medellin, Efren Santos of Team Canels Java, Bernardo Suaza of Team Petrolike, Mounir El Azhari of Team Sidi, Daniel Mendez of Team NU Colombia and Esteban Villareal of Team Ecuador.
As the stage progressed, the breakaway was redefined by the inclusion of other riders. One of the highlights came with the attack by Oscar Sevilla (47 years old) and Robinson Chalapud (39 years old), who were several kilometers ahead alone.
Finally, the chasers managed to catch up and Harold Tejada won in a reduced sprint. In addition to Tejada's victory, the stage was marked by the withdrawal of three riders: Mounir El Azhari of Sidi Ali - Unlock Team, Maicke Monteiro of SWIFT Carbon Pro Cycling and Yurgen Ramirez of the Venezuelan National Team.
