- You're a funny man.
You wrote that Pogi is boring and then you list all these others.
Aren't they boring? Same as Jonas.
But Tadej, for you he's boring!
The man who put on a show in Montmartre and without whom we wouldn't have anything to discuss.
- Pogacar, Vingegaard and with high probability Lipowitz, Ayuso, Almeida, del Toro, Seixas.
Maybe he could win a TdF with a miracle (multicrash eliminating pogi, vingo, etc) 5 stages of flat TT and all the galaxies aligned.
He's 26, only one year younger than Pogacar. So age isn't working in his favor either.
- Yes, we would be talking about Wout's phenomenal ride. The immense crowds that showed up that day - what was it, 500k? - did so with no knowledge that Pog would contest. He added to it, for sure, but that scene has its own drama, and Wout is one of most appealing figures in the sport. Any argument to the contrary is silly.
As for what we have to discuss, try answering the question I asked. Why is only Jonas at fault? Why not Lipowitz, Onley, Healy, Roglic, etc?
- And again:
Just imagine if Pogi had ridden that final stage like Jonas, what would we be talking about today? About Wout's phenomenal ride?
I don't think so!
In one post you wrote that Pogi is boring.
Do we have anything to discuss?
- Amusing. "Pog's ride to 4th was glorious because he was hurt and tired. But Wout's ride to victory was mid even though he, too, was exhausted and had been struggling the entire Tour"
The proper take: Pog's ride was selfish and pointless. One slip and everything he and his teammates had worked for goes up in smoke. Just a terrible risk/reward ratio that served his vanity much more than his team.
As for Jonas: why is only he singled out for criticism? Why not Lipowitz or any of the other GC riders? Essentially *all* GC riders have sat up since TDF went to the sprint finish in 1975. Critical of them, too?
Those crowds and that scene were iconic, just as they had been at the Olympics without Pog. Wout is a hugely popular figure who has endured terrible injuries and struggled to find his best form for some time now. His win was one of the most exciting moments of the year both for the spectacle and for what he had to overcome to achieve it. You are in a tiny minority to say otherwise.
- As I wrote once before, there is nothing special about Van Aert's ride to Montmartre.
Quite the opposite, Pogačar's ride in the final stage of the TDF is special.
A man who, tired and injured, in the rain and on slippery surfaces, with the overall victory assured, puts on such a show (unlike his rival Jonas).
Just imagine if Pogi had ridden that final stage like Jonas, what would we be talking about today? About Wout's phenomenal ride?
I don't think so!
- Sarcasm.
- I'd say at this stage he's probably happy to just get any contract in the WT, even if it means a less than ideal position to go for individual wins.
- Froome can form a one-man team with all the money IPT p*ssed away on him.
- Its a wrong team. We have Ayuso, who dont share and who dont support. We have Skejlmose who thinks he is the topshot at the team. We have Milan and Mads who demand significant team resources to win stages. We a;so have Tao who is in limbo. Now add Gee to the mix and its a explosive mixture. Good for Drama, not for performance
