Groupama-FDJ manager Marc Madiot openly criticizes Tennis star Novak Djokovic over doping test controversy: "In cycling you are subjected to a test and if you refuse it, you are automatically positive"

Cycling is a sport that is widely talked about as an epicenter of doping. From within, team managers know however how strict the rules are, and Marc Madiot criticized the lack of action from the Tennis authorities after Novak Djokovic refused to be tested on an occasion this week.

The incident happened at the Davis Cup, where the Serbian Tennis star refused to get tested in the run-up to a game. The situation has launched a debate into who has the reason. Groupama - FDJ manager Marc Madiot was vocal about what happened: “You don’t have the right to refuse a test, that’s the rule. In cycling you are subjected to a test and if you refuse it, you are automatically positive. If that is the case, you are sanctioned," Madiot told RMC.

"If the anti-doping authority does its job, Novak Djokovic must be suspended. In the range of doping substances there are those that can only be detected for a very limited period of time. If you do not test yourself before the start or during the game, their traces in the body can be erased."

Madiot argues that this decision could be the difference between testing positive or not and that this is not allowed under any circumstance in cycling.
