The GP Jean-Pierre Monseré was decided on a photo finish today, with Caleb Ewan narrowly beaten by Gerben Thijssen. However, some pictures seem to show the opposite, with Ewan taking to social media to criticize the situation.

"I kinda tought I won. Thoughts?" read one of Ewan's posts. "Here’s another one. If anyone’s got photo of big G (Gerben Thijssen, ed.) clearly beating me it would actually make me feel a bit better to be honest," a follow-up was added. Both posts feature shots from the finish line where it appears that Ewan crossed the line first in front of the Intermarché rider who was awarded the victory.

A 1.1 race, the organizers are being criticized on social media for the lack of a quality photo-finish system, which has been used to declare the winner. Ewan had been initially declared the race winner before the judges switched and officially declared Thijssen the winner.

The winner at the #GPMonseré was decided based on this low-quality finish photo. This was the only proof the organisation could give to decide Gerben Thijssen as winner. I wish I was joking, but I'm telling the truth. 😂

Lotto Dstny doesn't seem content with the victory at #GPMonseré being awarded to Gerben Thijssen. 😬 UCI rules say there should be a photo finish camera for any road race, so also for a 1.1 race like GP Monseré.
