Gerben Thijssen beats Caleb Ewan in photo-finish sprint at GP Jean-Pierre Monsere to secure victory

Intermarché–Circus–Wanty rider Gerben Thijssen has won the GP Jean-Pierre Monseré. He beat Caleb Ewan to secure the win. Sam Welsford completed the podium.

The breakaway consisted of Ryan Christensen, Nickolas Zukowsky, Huub Artz, Carlos Canal, Rick Pluimers, Zak Coleman, Lasse Norman Leth, Emil Toudal and Wouter van de Weerdhof. The group worked together to create a gap of more than two minutes and 10 seconds.

However, the peloton caught the riders 22 kilometres before the finish line. Several attacks in the final kilometres, but the peloton was not going easy. Lotto Dstny was leading the peloton. The finish was a close call.

Lotto Dstny’s efforts could not help much since Gerben Thijssen was a bit faster than Caleb Ewan and snatched the victory. Caleb Ewan finished second and Sam Welsford completed the podium.
