Gino Mäder drops out of Giro d'Italia with Covid-19, Yukiya Arashiro fills in for Bahrain - Victorious

Gino Mäder recently struggled at the Tour de Romandie and a cause may have been discovered. The Swiss rider has tested positive for Covid-19 and is being forced to miss out on the Giro d'Italia. Bahrain - Victorious have replaced him with Yukiya Arashiro.

Mäder rode to fifth at Paris-Nice and although he was not set out to lead the team in it's GC goal, he was likely to play a key supporting role as well as chase stage wins in the mountains. This comes as a meaningful hit for the team. Arashiro will be protecting the likes of Damiano Caruso and Jack Haig more in the flat terrain as he tackles his 16th Grand Tour.
