Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team's Tour de France selection was one that caused quite the stir over social media, with the absences of Julian Alaphilippe, Florian Sénéchal and Mark Cavendish surprising many.
Whilst the Danish riders were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to race a Grand Depart in their own country, a mix of injuries, preferences and support for Fabio Jakobsen saw a very diverse lineup. Tim Declercq was selected for his usual role in working throughout the flat days, but he has tested positive for Covid-19 this morning.
The Belgian team has brought in Florian Sénéchal as a replacement. The French national champion is a long-standing part of Jakobsen's leadout and in terrific form, hence why it was a big surprise that he wasn't in the initial selection. Sénéchal will however race his country's colours on home roads, with the likes of Alaphilippe, Cavendish and Cavagna out of the selection.
