Uno-X Pro Cycling Team's Niklas Eg has crashed during the second stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné and abandoned the race with several injuries after having fell over a wall.
Team DS Jens Haugland has told Feltet.dk that "Niklas says hello, and is soon ready to leave the hospital. He has a concussion, a broken nose, a broken rib and has received some stitches in the face." This happened during the second stage of the French stage-race where he was riding in support of young prospect Tobias Johannessen.
Eg was reported to have crashed in a downhill, having flown over a wall and dropping several meters below. The list of injuries was relatively serious, however Haugland is confident that "all things considered, he's okay".
Johannessen will today be one of the main favourites for the stage win at Sancy, and Uno-X Pro Cycling Team are likely to be near the front as they will be protecting their Norwegian talent.
