Nairo Quintana ahead of Tour de France cobbles: "Cobblestones are not new to me"

This past June third Arkéa went to the cobbles of northern France to explore what the riders will face on the fifth stage of the Tour de France which is set to have it's finale in the infamous town of Arenberg.

A stage in which the Tour will not be won, but can be lost, and the Colombian has GC aspirations which can be boosted on this day. "It is difficult for some of the general, but the cobblestones do not scare me. We have a good team," he said regarding the challenges that will be faced next month.

“It was good both for the team and for me. Strictly speaking, cobblestones are not new to me, I have already participated in the Tour de France with cobblestone sections. However, a lot of time has passed, so it was good to do this reconnaissance," he added.

He has over the last few years shown great quality over crosswinds and cobbled races, having a lot of experience on this type of racing which he has contested for many years. With the likes of Connor Swift, Amaury Capiot and Matis Louvel expected to be at the Grand Boucle, the Colombian will have good support over the cobbles.
