World champion Julian Alaphilippe is hopeful of being selected to the Tour de France and he is currently training at altitude at Sierra Nevada, where Jumbo-Visma - and other teams - have spent time on before the Critérium du Dauphiné.
The ski station is situated at around 2200 meters in altitude just outside Granada, in the Spanish Andalucia. Although the sprinter block is unlikely to be using the mountains to train, the French rider will and is hoping to get his climbing legs in time for the Grand Depart in Copenhagen.
With him are, or at a certain point were preparing alongside him most of the Tour de France block which includes Florian Sénéchal, Fabio Jakobsen, Yves Lampaert, Tim Declercq and Dries Devenyns. Ilan van Wilder, who had to miss the Giro d'Italia due to injuries sustained in the same crash as Alaphilippe at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, was also present.
