🎙 STAGE RECAP 🎙 We hoped for a bunch sprint but in the end it was a solo escapee, Van Aert. Hear what yesterday’s stage winner @GroenewegenD had to say 🗣 #TDF2022 🇫🇷
Dylan Groenewegen could not secure any podium visit in the fourth stage of the Tour de France. The Dutch fell behind in the peloton and crossed the finish line in 122 positon.
"We knew there was a chance for a sprint but also a big chance that a small group would make it, and in the end, it was a very small group with only Wout van Aert. He flew on the climb and was too strong for everyone," Groenewegen said. "It's not a shame. I'm still happy with the legs, but today they weren't good enough."
When asked about his future plans for the tour and if he has any plans for another stage victory, he said, "Tomorrow and the next few days are tough stages, and we have to see. We have a very strong group for this kind of race, big guys and with Mezgec in good shape and, of course, Matthews as well. We are going to see it day by day."
