Giovanni Aleotti has won the Sibiu Cycling Tour for the second time in his carrier. The Italian rider successfully defended the overall leader position till the final stage of the tour.
He maintained his overall leader position in GC since the fourth stage of the tour with the help of his teammate Cian Uijtdebroeks. With a brilliant performance that gave him the time trial stage win on the last day of the tour, defending champion Giovanni Aleotti extended his lead in GC. In the second part of the stage, He crosses the finish line in 23rd position and 35 seconds behind stage winner Stefano Gandin and secured his victory for the tour.
“This morning, everything worked out very well in the TT. In the afternoon, we tried to control the race and bring it home safe and sound. I’m super happy with this back-to-back win here, and after a tough first half of the season, it feels really good to be in shape now. It's been a great race with good sensations, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. I really want to thank my teammates here for their efforts and the great work,” said Aleotti.
