Marianne Vos : "things are going well if you can't be completely satisfied with third place"

Marianne Vos finished third in the fifth stage of Giro d'Italia Donne. She couldn't compete in the sprint against stage winner Elisa Balsamo and Charlotte Kool and had to satisfy herself with bronze . It was her third podium visit in the tour.

"It was a hectic final. The last corner was 125 meters from the finish, but there were mainly straight roads with narrow sections before that. In a flat stage, many teams want to go for a sprint, so we kept control with Riejanne. However, the final was so hectic that we couldn't find each other anymore. I still went through the corner in third place but couldn't move up anymore. On the other hand, things are going well if you can't be completely satisfied with third place. Tomorrow we will try again, although it remains to be seen whether it will explode on the little climb," said Vos.
