Dario Cataldo back on his bike for first time since dramatic Volta a Catalunya crash

The list of injuries suffered by Dario Cataldo in the horrific and dramatic crash earlier this year at the Volta a Catalunya was numerous. Thankfully though the Italian is back on his bike and eyeing a return to the peloton.

"I can only say I’m happy to be still alive." Those were the words used by the 38-year-old, Trek - Segafredo rider following his horrific crash. The truth is he wasn't exaggerating either. With numerous injuries such as a fractured collarbone, fractured rib(s), fractured vertebrae, pneumothorax, fractured acetabulum and a fractured greater trochanter, there was more on the line for Cataldo than just a return to the peloton.

Now though, in what is great news, Cataldo is back on his bike. In a video posted to the story of his official Instagram account, the Italian is seen wearing Trek-Segafredo gear, on a bike although still wearing some kind of support on his midrift.

"That’s great news!" One fan replied to a tweet screenshotting Cataldo's story and another said "Oof, thank god". Seeing Cataldo back on two wheels is genuinely a brilliant sight to see and we wish him the best of luck in his future recovery.
