Corbin Strong takes bittersweet second place at GP de Quebec: "I'm sad to only come second, but Arnaud was too fast"

Corbin Strong wasn't far from his breakthrough victory in Friday's GP de Quebec. The 23-year old sprinter had to only bow down to insanely strong Arnaud De Lie who had no equal at the end of 201-kilometer-long hilly classic.

"I've been looking forward to this race whole year," explains, both satisfied and disappointed, the man who achieved the best result of his career in a WorldTour race.

"I think a long sprint suits me really well, so I started early. I didn't want to cross the finish line with regrets, I had to go for it if I wanted to win. I started to believe in it, seeing the finish line approaching, but Arnaud was too fast. I'm sad to only come second, but also happy with the result. It's probably the race in which I've had the most leadership since the start of my career. The team believes in me, it's really motivating, so I'm really happy to reward them with this second place," concludes Strong on his team's social media.
