Col du Tourmalet and Alto de l'Angliru to host summit finishes at 2023 Vuelta a Espana

The Col du Tourmalet is a record older at the Tour de France, and next summer it will hold the queen stage of the Tour de France Femmes. However, besides the women's and men's Tour de France, the Pyreneen climb is likely to feature aswell in the Vuelta a Espana as a summit finish.

The report has been developed by El Périodico, in which they confirm it is very likely that the race will have what is the most climb ridden ever at the Tour de France will be featured as a summit finish of the Spanish race, something which was set to happen in the 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic threw the plans off the table.

The full route will be presented in early January and according to VeloNews, a return to the mythical Alto de l'Angliru is also on the table. Further assessments will be made in the coming weeks as the organizers finalize the route.

The Vuelta a Espana has been won by Remco Evenepoel this year and in 2023 it will be raced from the 19th of August to the 10th of September.
