Cees Bol is ready to guide Mark Cavendish to glory at Tour de France: "The main goal is to help him achieve that triumph"

Cees Bol will be at the start of his fourth Tour de France. In past seasons, we have known him as leader for sprints, who came close to winning on multiple occasions. However this year, he'll try a new role as a lead-out man for Mark Cavendish, who'll attempt to win his 35th stage and become lone record holder.

"I feel really good and I really enjoy being with this team. I have completed a nice competition program and there are still a number of great races to come," Bol said in an interview with In de Leiderstrui.

"I am satisfied with what I have shown. But as a cyclist you always want more. I think only few riders would say they wouldn't have liked to have won one more. And that also applies to me, of course, but all in all, I am very satisfied. It's going well."

Bol will be one of the key men for Mark Cavendish in bunch sprints. Does he regret not being the leader himself? "No definitely not. I think it's wonderful to see the Tour from that point of view. And in a race like the Tour, of course, anything can happen, so you never know exactly how it will turn out. Not just for me, but in general. On the other hand, it's not all about Mark for three weeks. There is a healthy balance, but the main goal is to help him achieve that triumph."
