Caleb Ewan's comeback delayed once more as Australian passes on Omloop van het Houtland

Caleb Ewan sees his return to racing postponed once again. After the fall-out at the Tour de France, the 'Pocket Rocket' was criticized by Lotto Dstny CEO Stéphane Heulot, but still hopes to return to competition. His future within the team is uncertain, and he has not finished a race since the Grand Boucle.

He was meant to have taken part in the BEMER Cyclassics and then the Deutschland Tour but has not taken to the start of each due to the birth of his child. This was already a month after his last race. He's started the Gooikse Pijl but could not finish the sprinter-guided race. Since, he's aimed to return to racing now at today's Omloop het van Houtland where he'd be the leader of the Belgian team, however that will now also not be taking place the team confirms.

"Caleb Ewan is struggling with a wrist injury," the team shared. "That's why he gave up in the Gooikse Pijl and it's also the reason why he will not take the start in Omloop van het Houtland. He suffers acute tendinopathy of the right wrist and is currently being treated in Belgium. It is not clear yet when Caleb will return to action. Get well soon, Caleb!"
