British mega talent Joseph Blackmore set to continue in Israel - Premier Tech colours in 2025

Joseph Blackmore might be a new name in the road cycling echelons, but the talented British rider with strong MTB and CX background keeps proving that he can have a great future on the tarmac as well.

For the successor of the likes of Joao Almeida and Romain Grégoire, winner of this year's U23 version of Liege-Bastogne-Liege, turning pro will only be a formality as he's already proved his quality with 4th place at Brabantse Pijl earlier that week. Naturally, many players are in the battle for the services of the man who has won every stage race he attended in 2024 so far.

And who else should be in a pole position to sign the 21-year-old Brit than his current employer, Israel - Premier Tech. While there was no official communication, according to DirectVelo, who spoke to IPT Academy DS Rik Verbrugghe, the deal seems to be done for Blackmore to join the Israeli PRT team for at least 2025 and 2026 seasons.

"It's normal given what he shows," Verbrugghe said after Saturday's race. "He is a very intelligent rider despite his little experience. Last year, with all his top-10s in so few races, we quickly understood that he was a talent."

With such strong showings so far, Blackmore should and will be given even more opportunities to race alongside the main team this season, as Verbrugghe confirms. "He had to do more races with the second team but given what he is showing, he should do more races with the ProTeam."
