Bradley Wiggins faces nearly £1 million debt and potential bankruptcy: "Professional negligence from others that has left a shit pile with my name at the front of it to deal with"

Bradley Wiggins was one of the most successful riders of the 2010's, winning the Tour de France and taking titles in the Olympic Games and World Championships among others. However currently he faces a very difficult financial situation, staring at potential bankruptcy and a debt of almost £1 million British pounds.

Wiggins was the head of the 'Wiggins Rights Limited' company which financed the former Team Wiggins, but also projects surrounding the Briton. It is argued that this sum comes greatly due to a director's loan, which Wiggins has since disputed. Wiggins was asked to pay the exact amount of £979,953 back in 2022 but has not done so and no runs a risk of the situation escalating.

“It’s a very historical matter that involves professional negligence from others that has left a shit pile with my name at the front of it to deal with," Wiggins told CyclingWeekly, who conducted the report. “Happens to a lot of sportsmen while they’re doing the grafting and on that there'll be a number of legal claims from my lawyers left right and center as a result.”
