Biniam Girmay is one of the outsiders for the World Championships taking his season into consideration his season so far, and the Eritrean has revealed the calendar he will have leading up to Wollongong where the riders will battle for the rainbow stripes on the 25th of September.

After a successful first half of the season which included wins at Gent-Wevelgem and the Giro d'Italia, Girmay took a break, and after the national championships he returned to Europe where he took on a secondary calendar where he's consistently taken good results. Although having gone near, he hasn't been able to take a win however, but his aggressive stance and sixth place at the recent Bretagne Classic showcases he's got good current form, which he will take to the upcoming races.

Before the Worlds however, the 22-year old will race four one-day races in preparation. Today's Tour du Doubs will be one of them, whilst next week Girmay will - alongside many other classics riders in preparation for the Worlds - be travelling to Canada where he will race both GP de Québec and GP de Montréal, and days later will return to competition in Europe for the GP de Wallonie on the 14th of September.

After that schedule, which will likely be somewhat mimicked by several other riders, he will be travelling to Australia in hopes of obtaining a medal in the hilly circuit that will be in display for the riders this year.
