Benoît Cosnefroy wants to win a Classic in 2024: "Just one, That wouldn't be bad"

After a great 2022 season, where he won the GP Québec and finished 2nd in the Amstel Gold Race and the Brabantse Pijl, Benoît Cosnefroy had a much more complicated 2023. Far from his best level whether in the Ardennes, Canadian Classics or even the Tour de France, the 28-year-old Frenchman hopes to find his way back to success in 2024. During the presentation of his team Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team, he spoke to Cyclism'Actu.

Now, heading towards 2024, even if he does not yet know what his racing program will consist of. "We haven't talked about the program with the team yet, but of course there are objectives. This year it didn't go very well, but I hope to be present in 2024. There at the Ardennes Classics, where I was ill this year, but I hope to get there in very good shape in 2024. The objective is to win a Classic, there are enough throughout the season, just one, That wouldn't be bad," he says.

"I love the Tour de France, that's for sure, I love the energy around it. The Tour is incomparable, that's for sure. I'll check with the sports staff, we haven't yet spoken about the race program, so I don't know yet if I will be at the start," explains Cosnefroy, who is also keeping an eye on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

"There are also the Olympics, which is the sporting event of the year, especially since it's happening at home. I hope to be in the plans. It's also up to me to make a very good start to the season and show that I have my place in these Olympic Games."
