Blanka Kata Vas returned to the field last Saturday, more than a month after her collarbone fracture. The Hungarian champion of SD Worx was not yet able to compete for victory in the X2O Bathrooms Trophy in Kortrijk, but she certainly does not look back on her return with dissatisfaction.
The 22-year-old rider had to settle for seventh place in Kortrijk, but more importantly: she was able to compete in the cross without pain. "It was still very tough. Obviously I still have to find my rhythm, but it certainly wasn't bad. I got off to a good start, but then I had a hard time on the lanes where you had to walk or really push on."
"I was good at the technical passages and cornering," Vas analyzes her performance. "I had no pain at all during the cross. I still had a bit of trouble during training, but that was not the case during the cross. I am very happy with that."
Now that Vas is fit enough to compete again, she hopes to improve week after week. Next weekend the Hungarian will be at the start of the cyclo-cross races in Boom and Flamanville. "I'm really looking forward to these races, and especially Boom. I hope I feel even better then. I will give it my all again and then we'll see."
