Aurélien Paret-Peintre wins the last stage of Tour des Alpes Maritimes with a late attack with Kevin Vauquelin celebrating the GC win

Aurélien Paret-Peintre of AG2R Citroën team won stage 3 of Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var. The Frenchman made a solo attack enough to finishing ahead of the group of favourites with Mattias Skjelmose (Trek-Segafredo) and Kevin Vauqelin(Arkéa-Samsic) finishing 2nd and 3rd with Vauquelin conquering the general classification.

Romain Grégoire of Groupama-FDJ tried the breakaway early in the stage only to be caught by the peloton at 40 km to the finish. EF Education-EasyPost pulled the peloton along the stage setting a pace for Neilson Powless to do something for the general classification. On the last climb Colombian road Champion Esteban Chaves setted the pace.

Trek-Segafredo succeeded EF Education-EasyPost putting s strong pace on the last climb. Neilson Powless was the first to attack and a lot of the race favourites launched attacks until Aurélien Paret-Peintre managed to get a gap from the favourites. The peloton specially Groupama-FDJ did their best to catch Paret-Peintre but to no avail, nobody could catch Paret-Peintre.

In the end Aurélien Paret-Peintre managed to celebrate just a little ahead of the group of the favourites with Mattias Skjelmose finishing second and Kevin Vauquelin third. Kevin Vauquelin won the general classification of Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var being his first race ever won in his still young professional career adding also the youth classification jersey.
