Attila Valter has been one more victim inside the peloton of a traffic accident, as he was taken out during a training ride by a motorcycle whilst preparing for future races in Italy.
The Hungarian rider had been training up in altitude in the Alps, and was recently involved in an accident with a motorcyclist near Bormio, he shared on Twitter. He was transferred to a local hospital but only with minor injuries, having noticeable road rash and some broken teeth however. He showed the state of the bike after the accident, with several broken parts and beyond reparable.
Valter, who just became Hungarian national championship last month, has been preparing for the final part of the season. He was scheduled to be racing the Clásica San Sebastián but that remains a doubt now, with no decisions yet on whether he will be making his Vuelta a España debut later this summer or to focus on the autumn classics.
