Biniam Girmay has until now finished on the Top10 of every
Tour Down under stage, and climbed to second overall after today only one second behind Isaac Del Toro. However, he came up just short of victory on stage 4, with Sam Welsford taking the cherry on top once again.
"The team protected me well all day ahead of this last sprint of the
Tour Down Under. Madis Mihkels positioned me perfectly before the last corner, 500 meters from the finish, but at the end Sam Welsford was again the fastest in the peloton," Girmay said in a post-race interview. The Eritrean sprinter had finished third on the opening day and fourth on the second, today he improved on his best result by one spot.
