Annemiek van Vleuten leaves her final Tour de France Femmes disappointed: " I wasn't myself. It's a pity"

Big disappointment for Annemiek van Vleuten. The Dutch rider lost her spot on the final podium on the last day of the Tour de France Femmes. After a bad day on Tourmalet, a knock-out punch came in the individual time trial where Lotte Kopecky beat the Movistar rider by more than a minute

"There is now mainly disappointment within me," Van Vleuten told Eurosport afterwards. "I couldn't put up a fight. I didn't make any mistakes, I don't really know what happened. I wasn't myself. It's a pity that this happens in my last Tour de France Femmes."

In the final time trial, Van Vleuten eventually finished fourteenth, a good one and a half minutes behind stage winner Marlen Reusser. "When I woke up this morning, I knew immediately. I wasn't sick, I just wasn't feeling well. No matter how I rode yesterday on the Tourmalet, that is not my level."
