Jorgenson's point of view
In any case, what we have to analyze here is what is best for the rider and for the team. For the rider, it goes without saying that at an economic level, there is no discussion. Hence there will be no doubts that he will go to the Dutch squad.
On a sporting level, in theory in the Movistar Team he should have more opportunities, especially if he continues his good work in the classics. At Jumbo, we imagine that he would be a domestique in many races and would have opportunities in others, a la Attila Valter. It is also complex in this sense to affirm emphatically that the American was going to have many more opportunities in the Movistar Team.
Movistar's point of view
Thus, for the rider there are no doubts. I don't think there are any for the Movistar Team either. And, obviously, not because they don't want a cyclist like him to stay, but because of a budget issue. They love Carlos Rodríguez and consider him a more valuable piece, both for potential and for the fact that he is Spanish (Movistar is a brand that sells its products in Spain and Latin America, which is why it always likes riders from those areas).
As a final conclusion, we can say that the failure, with a view to the future, is not to tie the cyclists in whom you truly believe for more years. But, once what has happened has happened, I urge Jorgenson and Movistar to think about the next time.
