American rising talent Magnus White dies following collision with car

Tragedy has struck American cycling this weekend, Magnus White who had been preparing for the Glasgow World Championships, has died at the age of 17 hit by a car whilst on a training ride.

White was set to race the junior event in the MTB discipline at the upcoming Worlds, and was putting in the final preparations for that at the time of the accident. Off-road White was one of the country's biggest talents, also having a frequent presence in cyclocross, riding a few strong results and finishing this winter's world championships in 20th place.

USA Cycling wrote in a press release: "He was a rising star in the off-road cycling scene and his passion for cycling was evident through his racing and camaraderie with his teammates and local community. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the White family, his teammates, friends, and the Boulder community during this incredibly difficult time."
