Amazon set to step in as co-sponsor of Jumbo-Visma structure from next year

The new Jumbo-Visma merger team has attracted its first new major sponsor for the coming years. The American e-commerce company Amazon, based in Seattle, is one of the new backers in the cycling team. Dutch marketer Chris Woerts confirmed this in the television program Today Inside.

According to sources from WielerFlits, Amazon will not be one of the title sponsors of the team, but will step in as co-sponsor of the team. Amazon has been working closely with Jumbo-Visma since 2022.

Last year, the series 'All-in team Jumbo-Visma' about the ins and outs of the cycling team was made for Amazon's Prime streaming service for the first time. A series that will be continued this year and will become a special series with the overall victories of Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard and Sepp Kuss in the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a España respectively.

Last Sunday it was announced that Jumbo-Visma and Soudal Quick-Step have been working on a merger team since July. Visma and Soudal have been involved in the discussions from the start and are the main candidates to become the name sponsors of the new super team. Bicycle manufacturer Specialized is also seen as one of the most important partners/sponsors of the team. HLN reported today that at the beginning of this week there was a meeting in Breda between an executive from Jumbo-Visma and a delegation from Specialized.
