Arnaud De Lie has had a rapid rise over the past 2 seasons. One thing missing from his palmares though is a Grand Tour.
With Caleb Ewan leaving Lotto Dstny to return to Team Jayco AlUla it was widely expected that De Lie would be the team's sprinter at next year's Tour de France. According to Lotto Dstny boss Stéphane Heulot however, that eventuality is much less certain.
“The chance that Arnaud De Lie will ride the Tour in 2024 is fifty percent,” Heulot tells RTBF. “We will talk quietly with Arnaud. He is certainly ambitious. If we take him to the Tour, that will of course change a lot. On the other hand, we also have the Paris Olympics. As a rider you don't want to enter the Tour with the idea that you will and have to give up early. We still have to discuss all this.”
“At the moment I estimate the chance that Arnaud will contest the Tour at fifty percent. It is certain that he will not start in the Giro d'Italia next year. After a great classic campaign, it is important to recover well. Only the Vuelta a España awaits in the autumn. Our decision will also depend on the route of the upcoming Vuelta," concludes Heulot.
