47-year-old phenomenon Óscar Sevilla in overall lead of Tour of Hainan with two stages to go

Óscar Sevilla continues to amaze in the Tour of Hainan. In the third stage of the Chinese 2.Pro race, he had to leave the stage victory to James Piccoli, but thanks to the bonus seconds of his second place, Sevilla jumped on and over Sebastian Berwick, making him the new leader.

Perhaps the most difficult stage of the week awaited on day three of the Tour of Hainan. Four first category climbs awaited in the 123 kilometer long ride between Baoting and Wuzhistan. In the final, the decision had to be made on Atuo Mountain (6.6 kilometers at 6.1%), after which there was another thirteen kilometer descent towards the finish.

James Piccoli – active at WorldTour level for the past three years with Israel-Premier Tech, but since this year with the continental China Glory – ultimately managed to stay ahead of a group of favorites with leader Berwick and the 47-year-old Sevilla. Sevilla won the sprint for second place and is the new leader with two stages to go.

Ben Hermans would also like to show himself in this Tour of Hainan. Berwick's teammate had two years full of injuries, but still wants to be in the spotlight for a new contract.
