- Lets be honest there was no contenders. Most sent their 2nd string and apart from Yates there was no other real big hitters
- the gesture was about emotional support, not physical support... .. bravo...
- If he were at the Tour he'd probably win several stages as the sprint field is not as good there
- I am actually most positively surprised by Dylan Groenevegen. He alresdy seemed to be well on his way out when he signed with Rose Rockets. He has meanwhile shown several times that he is still competitive at the highest lebel.
- I find riders who aren't so serious right from the start more interesting to follow.
When Florian Lipowitz burst onto the scene in Romandie 2024, he had many weaknesses. Explosiveness, consistency, time trial strength and the ability to push on the steeper sections. Now, he's improved with all of those, though he still has a while to go with his explosiveness. It is nice to watch a rider gradually mature in so many aspects.
It is the same with Giulio Pellizzari. When he started grabbing attention he was just a pure climber. But then he showed that he has the consistency for 3 weeks, and his explosiveness has shot up. We've also found out that his time trial ceiling is very high.
With Seixas, there's nothing as interesting. It is simply "get better and follow and brat Pogačar"
On another note, if Seixas hits a hard wall and Lorenzo Finn keeps improving and surpasses him, it will be the greatest lesson in patience and not rushing anything
- I was not aware that Soler (500:1) and Buitrago (100:1) were on any reasonable list of favourites.
- Zonneveld is just trying to trigger anyone he can and Johan took the bait.Ignoring arseholes seems a dieing art these days but an exercise all of us would be wise to learn.
- I feel bad saying this, he is exciting to watch, but yes - I can see where you’re coming from @Rafionain-Glas.
- That’s a fair point. Whilst I can’t say I’ve personally picked up on that in his post-race interviews, I would agree with you when you say he isn’t humble.
My feelings right now are that he is confident, and exudes that almost naive willingness to take risks that you often see in young talent. I read an interview at the start of the season where he said he kept himself away from family and friends all summer so he could focus on the 26’ season. Whilst his dedication is admirable, I’d be lying if I said a small part of me didn’t feel that was marginally arrogant, at least not yet justified for someone so young and his potential yet unknown.
- Good sportsmanship, good friends
