2017 winner Geraint Thomas leads incredibly strong INEOS Grenadiers lineup at the Tour of the Alps

The traditional preparation race for the Giro d'Italia, the Tour of the Alps is as you might have guessed by the name, full of climbing. The INEOS Grenadiers will take to the startline with an incredibly strong, mountain focused lineup led by 2017 winner Geraint Thomas.

Edging out Thibaut Pinot by just seven seconds to claim victory in 2017, Geraint Thomas will arrive in the Alps this year unsure of his form. Having ridden just two races and done nothing much of note in either, the 36-year-old Welshman will be hoping to lay down a marker of his form prior to the upcoming Giro d'Italia where he will be expected to contest for the Pink Jersey.

Alongside Thomas will be a former Giro d'Italia winner in Tao Geoghegan Hart, a winner of two Giro stages in 2022 Thymen Arensman and 2019 Tour of the Alps winner Pavel Sivakov. Anyone of the aforementioned four riders could conceivably battle it out for the race win so only time will tell who has the best legs in the team. Laurens De Plus, Salvatore Puccio and Ben Swift complete the lineup.
