Great Britain's defence of the men's team pursuit at the World Championships has come to a premature end because of a crash in the qualification round by Charlie Tanfield.
The 26-year-old crashed on the final bend in what looked like an awful moment. Thankfully, after receiving medical attention, the Saint Piran Pro Cycling rider was able to leave the velodrome unassisted and a recent statement from British Cycling has provided an update.
"Following his in this morning's men's team pursuit qualification, Charlie Tanfield was assessed immediately by the on site medical team before being taken to hospital for further treatment," the statement reads. "We wish Charlie a very speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the bike soon. Unfortunately, the men's team pursuit riders will progress in the competition."
