Tadej Pogacar's victory gesture on top of the Plateau de Beille may well have been well thought out. The Slovenian yellow jersey contender showed off his watch worth around 340,000 euros.
The 25-year-old superstar pounded his chest like a superhero and then clenched both fists. On one of Pogi's wrists was clearly visible an exclusive model of luxury watches Richard Mille 67 (Wayde Van Niekerk edition). Price tag of that watch? A whopping 340,000 euros. To give you an idea: that is 40,000 euros more than the number two (200,000 euros) and three (100,000 euros) are given at the end of the Tour.
A year ago, Pogacar made headlines when the court in Nice sentenced two men to four years in prison for the theft of several luxury watches, including an expensive one owned by Tadej Pogacar. This happened during the Paris-Nice.
Considering the ones worn at Tour de France cost more than double the price of his stolen timepiece, the owner would probably rather wear his Swiss timepiece than leave it on the team bus or hotel.
