Johan Museeuw narrowly loses in a local Belgian race. Against a horse.

It is a tradition in Sint-Eloois-Winkel: during the village festival Winkel Koerse, a renowned cyclist competes against a local rider. This time, former world champion Johan Museeuw and 16-year-old Norwegian Devolder on his horse Gerona Ginger competed against each other. It was a close call, but the rider still had to lose.

Striking: a year earlier, it was Yves Lampaert's turn, the Soudal Quick-Step rider who currently seems to be on his way to the new merger team. Lampaert was then outsmarting the horse.

The horse race organized in Sint-Elooiswinkel is unique, because it is the only Belgian horse race that takes place on public roads. "I still cycle quite a lot, but I didn't prepare for this," Museeuw laughed afterwards. The cycling legend ended his racing career in 2004.
