Cesare Benedetti, Jonas Koch, Frederik Wandahl and Ryan Mullen will also race for BORA-hansgrohe next year. The German formation has extended the expiring contracts of these four riders.
The 36-year-old Benedetti will start his fifteenth (!) season in 2024 with BORA-hansgrohe and predecessors. The Italian, who was naturalized as a Pole, started his cycling career in 2010 with then Team NetApp and always remained loyal to the German formation. Benedetti is known as a loyal helper, who also managed to escape from the shadows once in 2019: that year he won the twelfth stage of the Giro d'Italia, still his only professional victory.
Koch and Wandahl have been part of BORA-hansgrohe since 2022 and 2021 respectively. The German Koch is known for his fast legs, although he is mainly an important link in the sprint train. Koch is also part of the classical core of the German formation. Wandahl is a promising puncheur/hill specialist. The Dane finished eighth in the Bretagne Classic and eleventh in the Circuito de Getxo this year.
The 29-year-old Mullen will start his third season with the German formation in 2024. The Irish rider is often used in the spring classics and also does the necessary dirty work for the leaders within the team. Mullen won a new Irish title in the time trial this year and also competed at the European Championships (17th) and World Championships (19th) against the clock in Emmen and Stirling respectively.
