The rest of the competition was far away, but the
INEOS Grenadiers rider had to hold off the Swissman. The gap at the finish was only of 26 seconds, but that was enough for Pidcock to take his first triumph since Glasgow. "Mathias Flückiger chased me for an hour and put a lot of pressure on me. I made some mistakes, but I knew I shouldn't really fight him on the descents. When he made a mistake, I did it again."
However, the 24-year old had the legs on the day to take the triumph and won the final World Cup race of the year. "With two laps to go he opened up a gap. In the end I tried to make as few mistakes and keep my bike under control. Mathias flew through the descents like a mad man, but he also suffered two punctures," he concluded.
